| Objective: The purpose of this study is to observe the clinical efficacy and safety of abdominal ten points acupoint thread-embedding in the treatment of simple obesity,to compare the abdominal ten points acupoint thread-embedding of traditional acupuncture with that of conventional acupuncture, and to provide clinical evidence for the preferential selection of acupuncture points in the treatment of simple obesity. Methods: Seventy-two patients with simple obesity were randomly divided into the treatment group(abdominal ten points acupoint thread-embedding)and the control group(traditional acupuncture group),with 36 patients in each group. Both groups received health education, and the treatment group received treatment with embedded threads in ten abdominal acupuncture points, including Zhongwan,Xiawan,Qihai,Guanyuan,Huaroumen(double),Wailing(double)and Daheng(double),once every two weeks for four sessions(eight weeks),as one total treatment. The control group received treatment at the same abdominal ten points as the treatment group, once a day, three times a week(every other day recommended),eight weeks for one total treatment.During the treatment period,an adverse event form was completed for safety assessment,BW,BMI,WC,HC,WHR,and IWQOL-Lite score were recorded before and after treatment in both groups, and data on BW and BMI were recorded at the 4-week post-treatment follow-up.SPSS software was used to analyze the data. Results: The study collected 72 patients with simple obesity,36 in the treatment group with 3 patients removed and 36 in the control group with 5 patients removed. The overall effective rate of the treatment group was 87.88% and the apparent cure rate was 63.64%;the overall effective rate of the control group was 80.65% and the apparent cure rate was19.35%.The clinical effects of the two groups were statistically significantly different(P<0.001).After treatment, the BW,BMI,WC,HC,WHR and IWQOL-Lite scale scores of patients in both groups were lower than before treatment(P<0.001),and the BW,WC,and HC of the treatment group were lower than the control group(P<0.05),and the BMI and IWQOL-Lite scale scores were lower than the control group(P<0.001).The improvement in WHR was not statistically different between the two groups(P>0.05).At follow-up,BW and BMI decreased in both groups(P<0.001)and were lower in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).No adverse events occurred during the trial. Conclusion: Abdominal ten points acupoint thread-embedding and traditional acupuncture were both safe and effective in treating mild obesity, with abdominal ten points acupoint thread-embedding being significantly superior to the traditional acupuncture.Abdominal ten points acupoint thread-embedding is significantly superior to traditional acupuncture in improving BMI,long-term effects,BW,WC,HC,and IWQOL-Lite scale scores in patients with mild obesity.Abdominal ten points acupoint thread-embedding is less painful and less frequent, making it easier for patients to accept and improving their quality of lifes and mood, meeting the new demand of modern obese people for convenient and practical treatments. |
