Teaching Chinese idioms as a foreign language is that the main content of both teachers’ teaching and learners’ learning is modern Chinese.Idioms are often equivalent to general Chinese vocabulary teaching.This "word-based" teaching method and the compiling principle of teaching materials also occupy a dominant position in teaching Chinese idioms as a foreign language.In order to enrich and improve the teaching system of idioms in TCFL,this paper studies the compilation of idiom story teaching materials based on the teaching of ancient Chinese as a foreign language,thinking about how to introduce ancient Chinese language and cultural knowledge into idiom teaching materials to provide classical Chinese context and necessary ancient Chinese knowledge for idiom teaching.In the final analysis,the introduction of ancient Chinese knowledge is a means to serve idiom teaching,which is the integration of idioms and classical Chinese under the guidance of the"character-based" teaching material compilation concept,and also the innovation of this paper.The research content of this paper is mainly divided into two levels:Theory and practice.Theory:the author first studies the inheritance and development relationship between idioms and ancient Chinese,sums up the close relationship between them in pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,and other aspects,and discusses the cultural factors behind idioms,which provides theoretical support for the inevitability and feasibility of ancient Chinese language and cultural knowledge involved in idiom teaching materials.Then,it compares the representative modern Chinese idiom textbooks in the field of teaching Chinese idioms as a foreign language,analyzes the limitations and advantages of modern Chinese idiom textbooks intuitively,and provides reference and thinking for the compilation of idiom story textbooks based on the teaching of ancient Chinese as a foreign language.Before compiling examples of idiom textbooks,the author first makes clear the concept of textbooks,and explains the connotation of "ancient Chinese teaching" involved in textbooks through comparison,highlights the characteristics and positioning of the textbooks studied in this paper,and on this basis determines the compilation purposes,principles,objects and methods that conform to the nature of the textbooks.Practice:the author designs the questionnaire of textbook compilation needs before the compilation of examples,understands the suggestions of international students on textbook compilation,and on this basis,formulates the general structure and content of the textbook,designs the textbook text examples,distributes them to international students,and collects feedback,to provide effective reference for the summary and improvement of the textbook.On the one hand,the compilation of the textbooks studied in this paper can meet some middle and advanced learners’ higher learning needs for idiom vocabulary,expand their Chinese knowledge,and improve their Chinese level.On the other hand,it provides a possibility for combining ancient Chinese and foreign Chinese idiom textbooks,which helps to promote the development and improvement of the foreign Chinese idiom textbook system,and provides a basis for the future.It provides a reference for the compilation of Chinese idiom story teaching material for foreigners based on ancient Chinese.
