The Design Of Characters In Teaching Chinese As Foreign Language Textbooks

Textbooks are an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The quality of textbooks is closely related to the effectiveness of teaching.Successful design of textbook characters is an essential factor in excellent textbooks for Chinese as a foreign language.This paper is based on the inductive summary of the character design in the four comprehensive foreign language Chinese textbooks "Experiencing Chinese","HSK Standard Course","Chinese Course" and "Easy Learning Chinese".Questionnaire and interview are carried out to learn the opinions and suggestions of textbooks users,learners and compilers about character design.It is discussed deeply through integrated induction and contrastive analysis.Suggestions are provided for character design in above four textbook compilation combined and with the the author's overseas teaching experience and reflection to improve the validity of textbooks.This paper consists of five chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the origin of research,research background,research significance,research method and domestic research.Chapter 2 expounds on basic situations of character design in four textbook versions.Chapter 3 examines the character image design in four textbook versions from the perspective of the values demonstrated by thecharacter's external image and internal personality traits and image,respectively.Chapter 4 shows opinions and suggestions of textbook users,learners and compilers on character image in above textbooks through questionnaire and interview.Based on the discussion in the first three chapters,Chapter 5 points out problems existing in character design in four textbook versions,and propose corresponding improvement suggestions.Finally proposes thinking for character design in textbook compilation.
