This article uses a questionnaire to investigate the current situation of online Chinese teaching for international students at Huaqiao University during coronavirus epidemic from the perspective of teachers and students,and interviews with teachers of comprehensive courses,listening courses,writing courses,reading courses,and speaking courses to assist with the results of the questionnaire survey,and draw the main points of this article,namely the advantages and disadvantages of online Chinese teaching during the epidemic,and the factors affecting the effectiveness of online Chinese teaching during the epidemic.Through the comprehensive analysis of the above survey and interview results,this article presents six suggestions for online Chinese teaching.Among them,the advantages of online Chinese teaching during the epidemic include: breaking through traditional teaching restrictions,recording and broadcasting functions for easy review,and enriching teachers’ online Chinese teaching methods;during the epidemic,the disadvantages of online Chinese teaching include the difficulty of online teaching teacher-student interaction,and part of the teaching content is not suitable for online teaching,and students have not developed a good habit of online learning.Regarding the effect of online Chinese teaching during the epidemic,the author puts forward the following six factors: network speed and platform choice,students’ autonomous learning ability and behavior habits,teachers’ attitude and energy input,psychological distance between teachers and students,and online course content,teaching strategies and teaching methods of teaching.The above six factors play a large role in the online Chinese teaching effect during the epidemic.However,in addition to the above six points,the online Chinese teaching effect during the epidemic is also affected by network stability and immediacy issues.Teachers and students are familiar with the teaching platform and students’ support for the network platform and other objectivity issues.The relevant suggestions for online Chinese teaching for international students during the epidemic are not only summarized from the questionnaires and interviews,but also combined with the disadvantages of online teaching mentioned in the article and the main factors affecting the teaching effect,so the relevant suggestions are summarized.Recommendations: Carry out online classes to shorten the distance between teachers and students,give teachers more teaching support,appropriately select online teaching content,and combine online and offline teaching modes.It is advocated that the BOPPS teaching model should be applied to the actual operation of online Chinese teaching.In addition,the model of combining online and offline teaching during the epidemic period was further elaborated.
