The source text of this report is an excerpt from Value Symbiosis: Organization Management in the Digital Age(2021)by Chen Chunhua.The book conveys the rules for organizational and individual survival in the digital age by describing how major Chinese companies are responding to this digitalization.Value Symbiosis is a management text,whose language is characterized by the use of a large number of metaphors to illustrate management concepts and cases,making the translation of metaphors a key to the accuracy of the message.To enable the target language readers to realize the same cognitive effect as the source language readers and precisely grasp the concepts delivered by the original text,the author uses Conceptual Metaphor Theory as the basis for an in-depth analysis of the metaphors in the original text.The book is divided into fourteen chapters.With more metaphor in chapters twelve to fourteen,it is possible to demonstrate the importance of Conceptual Metaphor Theory in guiding translation practice more effectively,and thus the report excerpts this section for translation.Chapter 12 deals with the knowledge revolution and organizational learning.Chapter 13 focuses on the principles of organizational value symbiosis,and Chapter 14 describes how organizations and individuals should adapt to the digital age.Three translation strategies are used by the translator,mainly including metaphor reproduction,metaphor deletion and metaphor replacement.It contains five parts.The first chapter provides a brief overview of the translation task in question.Chapter Two shows a discussion of the translation process.The third chapter is an overview of the theory of conceptual metaphor,together with a review of the metaphorical translation strategies.Chapter Four is the report of translation practice,in which more than 50 examples are used to demonstrate metaphorical translation and to evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies in the actual translation work.Chapter Five summarizes the main findings of the report as well as its limitations.
