A Research Of Translation Project Management Based On The C-E Translation Of Hunan University Undergraduates Educational Program (2010Version)

With the rapid increasing of large translation projects in Chinese translationmarket, project management skills have been taken as an essential capability for highlevel translators in translation industry. This article attempts to highlight theimportance of project management in translation projects and provide the scientifictools and methods for common problems that occur in this translation project.The paper describes the operation process of the translation project by our team,summarizes the major problems we confronted which impact the smooth running of theproject. And furthermore, it introduces the methods we took to manage the problemsand other skills which would be very helpful for the efficient operation of a hugetranslation project. By putting project management theories, computer aidedtranslation skills, translation modeling and some other skills in use together inanalyzing this translation project, the thesis takes an interdisciplinary approach toexplores how to operate a translation project with high efficiency as well as provides adifferent sight on professional translators’ education.The purpose of this paper is to highlight the need for management skills to raisetranslation project’s efficiency by analyzing the problems and inadequacies in itsrunning process. With this understanding, we believe that project management skillsshould be a necessary part for the cultivation of translators.
