| Propelled by the tide of globalization,Chinese businesses have entered the global market to compete with foreign companies.In today’s world of lightning-fast information distribution,any company that wishes to differentiate itself from the competition must be able to keep up with the latest advances.As a result,many Chinese businesses specifically monitor overseas news to capture critical information about themselves,their competitors,and the industry in order to make strategic adjustments as soon as necessary.I was once entrusted by a domestic translation company with E-C news adaption for a renowned Internet company,and the report is written based on the translation practice.The report first expounds on the backdrop of the translation practice and the entire translation process from the macro level before moving onto micro aspects to analyze the three difficulties I encountered,namely the selection and adjustment of information,the popularization and standardization of expression,and the establishment of coherence and logic.The report focuses on how to overcome the aforementioned challenges under the guidance of Variational Translation Theory.First of all,I adopt selected translation and altered translation to extract key information and adjust confusing information so as to fulfil the reading needs of the target readers.Secondly,I flexibly integrate buzzwords and terminology by narrated translation and annotated translation in order to make the expression as compatible as possible with domestic news.Furthermore,I employ edited translation and transwriting to reorganize the information and structure of the original text,ensuring that the translation remains coherent and logical.In light of the increasingly tough competition on the global market,more enterprises are in urgent need of translators,especially those who are skilled in news adaptation,to provide accurate and succinct overseas real-time information for management.This report summarizes the variational translation methods I adopt in the process of news adaptation and demonstrates the broad applicability of Variational Translation Theory in the translation practice.It is hoped that the report can provide certain references for translators engaged in similar translation practices or research. |
