| With the deepening of China's foreign exchanges,more foreign reports have been translated into Chinese,which provides a channel for Chinese readers to better understand the world and how the world views China.Reference News is a newspaper which has the largest circulation in mainland China,and it is the only official channel for the Chinese public to have a glimpse of the outside world,so Reference News is a representative one to study the specific translation strategies of political news adaptation.This thesis aims to conclude some specific strategies and methods of political news adaptation through analyzing some typical reports on Reference News from the perspective of Skopos theory.The selected news cover different topics,including the Sino-U.S.collision incident at the beginning of the century,Diaoyu Island incident and recent constitutional amendment about lifting presidential term limits.By comparing the original and translated political news from Reference News,the author concludes that the selection of original texts and the specific adaptation strategies are both influenced by the purpose of translation.The thesis also summaries some specific adaptation methods under the Skopos theory in different circumstances,which may provide some practical advice for future political news adaptation practices. |
