A Study On Chung-Ying Cheng’s I-ching Ontology

Western hermeneutics originated from the Christian understanding and interpretation of the Bible.After a long period of development,it has become a mature methodology in the field of philosophy.At present,it is transforming from methodological hermeneutics to ontological hermeneutics.It is under such a background that Onto-Hermeneutics created by Chung-Ying Cheng with the Yi learning thought as the prototype and origin comes into being.In contrast,the consciousness of "method" in the content of Chinese philosophy has a certain hidden,and the hermeneutics of Chinese philosophy still stays in the level of methodology exploration.Chung-Ying Cheng,as a representative of modern New Confucianism,focused on the study of Yi learning on the basis of integrating Chinese and Western philosophy.He regards the I Ching as the source of the creation and development of the whole Chinese philosophy,focuses on the ontology of Yi,draws on the methodology of western hermeneutics to make creative interpretation of the traditional I Ching thought,and constructs a characteristic new theoretical framework of I Ching with the I-Ching Ontology as the core.Chung-Ying Cheng tried to break through the barriers of methodology and ontology by taking Zhouyi thought as the method and characteristic,and integrated "the methodology of Yi"with "the ontology of Yi".With the framework of I-Ching Ontology as the core,it forms the circulation intercommunication of the three links of Ben(本),Ti(体),and interpretation,which is specifically developed into the Ben(本),Ti(体),Zhi(知),Yong(用),Xing(行).Among them,Ben(本)and Ti(体)is the ontological link,which is an answer to the basic problem of philosophy--the problem of "Ontology".Zhi(知),Yong(用),Xing(行)is the methodological link.In the ontological segment,it explains the logical starting point and development power of the world with the understanding of Buyi(不易),Bianyi(变易),Jianyi(简易),Jiaoyi(交易),Heyi(和易),it interprets the true features of the universe through five kinds of worlds:noumenon world,symbol world,image world,spiritual world and behavior world.In the section of methodology,the theory of Yi’s mind nature,Epistemology,Ontology value philosophy(Management philosophy and Ethical philosophy),theory of divination and other theories have been formed.In a word,Chung-Ying Cheng’s thought system of Yi learning is not only an innovative interpretation of traditional Chinese YI learning,but also a tentative construction of Chinese philosophical methodology.To deepen the study of Chung-Ying Cheng ’s Yi learning thought,one is helpful for Chinese philosophy to understand the western hermeneutics thought,promote the construction of Chinese philosophy methodology;The second is to innovate the interpretation of Yi Ching philosophy and inject new vitality into the study of Yi learning in Chinese philosophy.
