Abstract/Summary:
Talent cultivation for Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL)focuses on shaping practical ability,and the intercultural communication competence is an important part of the ability composition.At present,the innovation of talent cultivation which is output-oriented and capacity enhancement oriented is emphasized.As a high-frequency,high-intensity and high-quality training method,"skills training",which is field-based,realistic and embodiment,can help students effectively acquire knowledge,refine skills,exercise abilities and hone wills,and then improve the intercultural communication competence to help build national international communication capacity in the new era.This paper examines the relationship between professional skills training and the enhancement of intercultural communication competence based on the deconstruction of the components of the intercultural communication competence of MTCSOL through literature and in-depth interviews.The paper deconstructs the intercultural communication competence of MTCSOL into solid knowledge base and professional skills,strong communication awareness,correct communication attitude,and scientifically appropriate intercultural communication strategies.Analyzing the significance of skills training for the cultivation of applied and composite talents and its impact on the improvement of the intercultural communication competence of MTCSOL.Systematically reviews and analyzes the current situation of skills training and intercultural communication competency development in the first batch of MTCSOL pilot institutions established in 2007,and points out the common problems such as short duration,weak intensity,and inadequate rules and regulations of MTCSOL skills training.Trying to conduct an empirical analysis on the basis of theoretical investigation,and conducts semi-structured interviews with MTCSOL students who have intercultural communication practice experience to find out their realistic training and field training for intercultural communication competence improvement,and finds out the content of practical training for skills training mainly in teaching skills,cultural skills,foreign language skills,and intercultural communication skills,and the way of practical training for skills training mainly in course learning,intensive training,space experience,and self-training.Using Gephi,a data analysis software to visualize the interview results,point out the influence of professional skills training on the improvement of MTCSOL’s intercultural communication competence from four aspects:cognition dimension,ability dimension,emotional dimension and value dimension,analyze the influence mechanism and mode of action of skills training from three aspects:physical participation,situation creation and intensive training,and construct a relevant model.Based on this,we points out shortcomings of existing practical skills training methods and proposes three suggestions for talent training institutions:improving the professional skills training system;establishing a base for practical skills training through multiple channels;and enriching the content and form of practical skills training and using technological means to assist practical training.For MTCSOL itself,two suggestions were made:enhance awareness,strengthen the initiative of practical training and intercultural communication;refine skills,strengthen self-training of various professional skills.
