| The translation is mainly the act of converting information from one language to another.Due to the differences in linguistic habits between English and Chinese languages and the differences between cultures, etc.,losses are inevitable in English to Chinese translation.Translation compensation can maximize translatability and present the information, meaning, pragmatic function, and aesthetic form of the source language to the target language readers as much as possible,so compensation can be effectively supplemented for different levels of loss to achieve the best translation effect.Aimed at a target audience of novice and experienced investors,A Stock Investment Book for the 99% is designed to introduce the basics of the stock market and provide investment advice. There are some new concepts in the text that caused translation difficulties for the translator. This report will address these problems by proposing solutions to explain the changes and new methods in stock trading to Chinese readers who want to understand the principles of stocks. This thesis takes the translation of A Stock Investment Book for the 99% as the main content. It analyses some examples from the linguistic level, cultural level, and aesthetic level and testifies to the concrete application of compensation theory in translation practice through specific compensation strategies such as paraphrasing, adding notes, and adding words. It is found that in the translation practice of financial texts, there are three levels of losses: linguistic, cultural, and aesthetic,so compensation at all three levels can coincide, among which the compensation means at the linguistic level are used most frequently, followed by cultural compensation, while compensation at the aesthetic level is used least frequently. This thesis also hopes to provide a new theoretical perspective for the translation of financial texts and use it to guide translation practice. |
