As tourism industry gets more diverse and service-oriented,Chinese tourism business starts to make its transformation within which cultural tourism is welcoming new opportunities.Joining this tide,Chongqing Global Joy World,Global Tower and Sheraton Golden Twins Towers project aims for an international tourism complex centering cultural travel and providebusiness experience.In this case,the affiliated company of this project complied the feasibility study report on this cultural tourism and real estatethemed project including Global Joy World,Global Tower and Sheraton Golden Twins Towers(hereinafter referred to as FSR)to get financing from abroad featuring highly professional expression and distinct style.Based on Text Type Theory by Peter Newmark,the British translation theorist,this translation text can be defined as informative text which mainly focuses on passing information for the final goal.The translation of this kind of text should meet the requirement of high accuracy,faithfulness and naturalness.In order to reach these requirements,the author analyses the first three chapters from the perspective of words,sentences and figures of speech and discusses translation methods and skills of different cases mainly including conversion,omission,amplification,splitting and annotation which are all well-targeted and typical.The whole process includes understanding the structure,content and logic of the source text,which is the foundation of the study,transferring thoughts and then language and finally uncovering inner emotions,logic and structure.The author deals with the translation on the basis of faithfulness and puts efforts on keeping the original features.Under the instruction of Newmark’s text-type theory,the source text is dissected so the translation is barely obstructed.Above all,the author masters the analysis skills and process more thoroughly and the theory.This paper studies translation methods and skills of informative text by analyzing certain cases.The author hopes the analysis can widen the application of Newmark’s Text Type Theory and play a reference role in the translation practice and study of cultural tourism-themed feasibility study report.
