| As the communication technology grows rapidly in tandem with the development of economic globalization,electronic and information technology and the arrival of the5 G messaging era,cloud communications based on cloud computing are widely used in modern communication systems,bringing more challenges to translators.The English translation of technical documents is of great significance to promote the internationalization of enterprises,innovating products and prospering China’s scientific and technological undertakings.Moreover,quite a few jargon and abbreviations in technical documents,the differences in Chinese and English sentence structures and the difficulties in keeping the features of technical documents bring more challenges to translators and set higher requirements for translators,such as the abundance of knowledge reserve and the urgent need of various translation skills.Thus,this report explores the characteristics and translation strategies of technical documents based on the translation practice of technical documents of cloud communications.Under the guidance of Hans Vermeer’s Skopos theory,the author completes this translation practice.During the translation,the author strives to be loyal to the author while ensuring the accurate delivery of the original information,aiming at the achievement of coherence to the greatest extent.The report consists of five parts.Firstly,the report states the background of the topic,the research status and the significance of research.Secondly,the report represents the process of translation,namely,pre-translation preparation,while-translation stage and post-translation proofreading.In this part,the author also prepares for the theory and the related professional knowledge to ensure the success of the subsequent process of translation.Thirdly,the report introduces the development of Skopos theory and its three principal rules.Fourthly,the paper analyzes examples in translation practice from the perspectives of the vocabulary,syntax and text levels,and explores the translation strategies and techniques used in the translation of technical documents.Fifthly,the paper summarizes the findings and limitations of this report.The report shows that Hans Vermeer’s Skopos theory provides full guidance for the Chinese to English translation of technical documents and improves the quality of translation,achieving the efficient dissemination of information and the purpose of the translation.After completing this report,the author knows more about the translation of such texts and the Skopos theory.It is hoped that this translation report could provide more reference for the English translation of technical documents in the future. |
