With the deepening of basic education reform and the implementation of new English curriculum standards,the drawbacks of the traditional English teaching model have become increasingly obvious.In the current senior high school English classes,some teachers implement indoctrination education,which suppresses the development of students’ personality,and students gradually lose interests in English learning,resulting in poor English teaching results.So how to improve the traditional English teaching mode and highlight the dominant position of students is particularly important.Student-centered interactive teaching can help to solve the above problems.The use of student-student interaction teaching mode in senior high school English class can not only cultivate students’ language,emotional value and logical thinking ability,but also improve their enthusiasm for English learning and enhance the teaching effect.So it is necessary to strengthen the research on student-student interaction in senior high school English class.This study investigates the current situation of student-student interaction in senior high school English class,analyzes the problems in interaction,and puts forward optimization strategies.The main questions of the study are as follows:(1)What is the current status of the implementation of student-student interaction in senior high school English class?(2)What are the factors that affect the interactive teaching of students in senior high school English class?(3)How to optimize the student-student interaction strategies in the senior high school English class?The whole research process consists of the following steps.Firstly,the study discusses the relevant concepts of “interaction” and “student-student interaction”,selects three appropriate theoretical theories for the research,sorts out and summarizes the literature on student-student interaction at home and abroad,and designs the framework of this research,conducting research on both teachers and students.Secondly,it investigates the status of the implementation of student-student interaction in senior high school English class from the perspectives of both teachers and students through questionnaire surveys and interviews with144 high school students from a school in Hanzhong City and some high school English teachers in Hanzhong City.The survey found that there are some problems in the implementation of student-student interaction in the current senior high school English class,such as less interaction and unbalanced participation,relatively single form of interaction,serious formalization and low quality of interaction.The factors affecting the student-student interaction in in senior high school English class mainly include teachers,students and some objective factors,such as teachers’ teaching concepts,leadership styles,students’ English level,personality characteristics,teaching content and teaching environment.Finally,in order to effectively improve the effect of student-student interaction in the current senior high school English class,this study proposes measures from four aspects: changing concepts,stimulating enthusiasm,improving teaching art,and cultivating students’ interaction strategies.
