With unique national characteristics,culture-loaded words are deeply rooted in the national culture.Because of the differences between china and the west in social relations,religion,and geopolitics,it is difficult for interpreters to find equivalent expressions in target language in the process of interpreting,which also causes many troubles to the interpreter.Through the simulated C-E consecutive interpreting of Meeting the Best of China,this thesis discusses the application of Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory in the interpreting of culture-loaded words,from the process of preparation,reproduction,and reflection.This thesis hopes the target language audience can feel what the source language audience feel,while discussing how accurately interpreting culture-loaded words.Functional Equivalence Theory points out that the interpreting should reproduce the massage in source language by the closest natural equivalence in target language.Based on Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory and this simulated consecutive interpreting,this report mainly analyzes some specific questions in the process of interpreting culture-loaded words,and focuses on difficulties in interpreting,including Chinese characteristic vocabulary,sentence structures,rhetoric,idioms,allusions,cultural connotation in culture-loaded words.Based on analysis,this report propose the corresponding solutions,including free interpreting,free interpreting with additions,semantic extension,phonetic interpreting,literal interpreting with annotation,and literal interpreting with additions.This thesis reflects on the unfulfilled effects in task cases.Case analysis and the practice show that Functional Equivalence Theory really has guiding significance for difficulties in the interpreting of culture-loaded words.It is hoped that these solutions can help interpreters solve problems in the process of interpreting,and provide enlightenment in dealing with culture-loaded words in English interpreting.
