In recent years,China has made significant strides in improving its education level and educational technology.Despite these advancements, however, there remains a need to draw upon the advanced educational concepts and experiences of the West to better address some of the current problems encountered in school education technology. With increasing exchanges between China and the West in terms of educational philosophy, training mode and scientific research results, foreign books on educational methods and technology are of great guidance. Therefore, the study of English-Chinese translation of educational texts is gradually gaining attention. The source text of this translation report is a language education text,Digital-Age Teaching for English Learners: A Guide to Equitable Learning for All Students,co-edited by Heather Rubin,Lisa Estrada and Andrea Honigsfeld. The text considers English language learners as key practitioners of development, using many new terms to describe various instructional technology integration models and practices along with their application in ELD/ELS instruction. It also focuses on the specific information that teachers should design and deliver to students for instruction in face-to-face,remote,and hybrid learning environments. This report is guided by linguist Verschueren’s Linguistic Adaptation Theory, which comprises four dimensions: contextual correlates of adaptability, structural objects of adaptability, dynamics of adaptability and salience of the adaptation processes. However, the translator has selected only three dimensions and has not studied from salience of the adaptation processes.Hence, this report analyzes translation difficulties at the level of vocabulary, sentence structure and discourse from three dimensions. The translator employs translation strategies such as zero translation, selection and extension of word meanings, word augmentation and lexical conversion. In addition, the study aims to provide a new research perspective for the translation practice of educational texts by examining the specific application of the linguistic adaptation theory in the translation process. This is expected to renew the application of adaptation theory in translation and inject new vitality into educational text translation practice.
