Informative texts have features of great amount of information,strong accuracy,involving comprehensive fields and etc.The selected translation material is English version of a university faculty handbook which describes responsibilities of faculty towards students,grading standards,academic integrity and polices and others.This practice report takes the theory of linguistic adaptation as the perspective,chooses English information texts,LNU-MSU Faculty Handbook,as the translation material,aiming at the three problems found during the translation,which are inarticulateness of semantic representation,asymmetry of sentence structure,and ambiguity of logical relationship,proposes respectively the following solutions:adaptation of liberal translation,adaptation of amplification,and adaptation of omission;contextual adaptation of inner-discourse cohesion,inter-discourse restriction,and linear sequence;implicit adaptation of logical relationship,the explicit adaptation of logical relationship,and the lexical adjusting adaptation of logical relationship.The practice report and case analysis indicate that the Theory of Linguistic Adaptation has a certain guiding significance and practical value to the translation of English information texts,and translation strategies under the guidance of linguistic adaptation has certain effect.Hope the report can provide reference value to the translation of this kind of texts. |
