A Report On C-E Translation Of Urban Construction Text From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

As an important achievement in the field of science and technology,artificial intelligence technology plays a significant role in the process of urban construction.The integration of artificial intelligence and urban construction has greatly improved the efficiency of urban construction and provided favorable conditions for building new smart cities.Skopos Theory aims at the purpose of translation and advocates that translation is a human communicative behavior with a clear purpose and intention on basis of the original text,that is,the translation purpose determines the translation behavior.From the perspective of Skopos Theory,the final completion of translation largely depends on the function and purpose of the target context.In order to take the language environment of the target readers into full consideration and also to convey accurately the source text information in the translation of EST,this thesis attempts to use the Skopos Theory in the translation practice of urban construction texts.This thesis firstly introduces the background of the selected topic and the linguistic features of the translation material,such as the frequent occurrence of technical terms at the lexical level,long complex sentences at the syntactic level,as well as the logical coherence at the textual level.Secondly,this thesis explains the translation process,including the preparation before translation,the selection of translation tools,and proofreading after translation.Thirdly,according to the Skopos Theory,this thesis,under the rules of skopos and fidelity,discusses the translation techniques at the lexical level,for example,the literal translation;under the skopos rule,this thesis discusses translation techniques at the syntactic level,such as the sentence structure reorganization,the division,and the linear translation,etc.;under the coherence rule,this thesis discusses the translation techniques at the text level,such as the literal translation and the linear translation.Finally,this thesis summarizes the major findings and shortcomings of the study in the conclusion of this translation report.The study of this translation practice report shows that Skopos Theory is applicable to the translation of urban construction texts and plays a positive guiding role in it.At the same time,this translation practice report can provide a reference for the translation practice of urban construction texts and stimulate further related researches on translation of smart city construction texts.It can also offer technical help for cities to add artificial intelligence to the construction of smart cities.
