After the May 4th Movement,Western scientism spread to China, and traditional Chinese culture was questioned by "scientists".Liang Shuming,as the founder of modern Neo-Confucianism,when traditional Chinese culture was impacted by Western scientism,he used "intuition" as the noumenon of Chinese culture to oppose the Western culture that advocated "reason",greatly enhancing cultural self-confidence at that time. His thoughts were influenced by Western philosophers such as Bergson and Krupoutkin,as well as Chinese philosophers such as Confucius and Wang Yangming.Under the influence of Western thoughts, the development and changes of his intuitive views were greatly related to his understanding of psychology.Liang Shuming’s intuitionistic view has two stages. In the early stage, his intuitionistic view takes "intuition" as the core concept, while in the later stage, his intuitionistic view takes "rationality" as the core concept. He proposed "intuition" for the first time in Eastern and Western Cultures and Their Philosophies. In the preface of the eighth edition of Eastern and Western Culture and Its Philosophy,he mentioned that his "intuition" thought had many shortcomings.Later,he put forward "reason" as the core concept of intuition in the Essentials of Chinese Culture,Human Heart and Life and other books,so as to improve the deficiencies in the early "intuition" thought and make his intuition view more reasonable.Liang Shuming’s intuitionistic view focuses on the grasp of moral emotion. In the early intuitionistic view,he absorbed Bergson’s thoughts on intuition, set rationality and intuition against each other, understood intuition as the "benevolence" of Confucius and the "conscience" of Mencius, and equated intuition, instinct and moral emotion."Intuition" is the embryonic form of the word "reason" in his later intuitive view, both of which emphasize emotion without caring about interests. The later rational thought got rid of the disadvantage of confusing moral emotion with instinct in the early stage, and also realized the role of reason in reconciling moral emotion, thus perfecting his intuitive view. His concept of intuition is not only a continuation of traditional culture, but also opens the wind of modern neo-Confucian intuition theory.Feng Youlan,Xiong Shili,He Lin,etc.,have also conducted relevant research on intuition as a philosophical method.Liang Shuming was not only a thinker, but also tried to realize "rationality" in his own life. The rural construction movement he advocated also had a great impact on the development of his intuitive concept. After the rural construction movement,he emphasized that the realization of rationality should be gradually cultivated in practice, rather than only by "following the feeling".The study of Liang Shuming’s intuitionistic view is not only helpful to understand his understanding of reason, instinct and moral emotion in different periods, but also helpful to have a deeper understanding of traditional culture and enhance cultural confidence.Secondly, the system of Liang Shuming’s intuitionistic view contains rich moral emotion thought resources, which is conducive to building our spiritual home.It plays a very important role in the stability of our society,`2personal life and moral cultivation. The author aims to interpret Liang Shuming’s intuitive view by studying basic literature and academic works or papers of Liang Shuming, and then make his own thinking and analysis,so as to have a further understanding and grasp of his intuitive thought.
