Popular science texts are both scientific and literary. The translation should not only convey scientific facts rigorously and accurately, but should also appeal to the reading interest of the public with popular language. Therefore, attention should be paid to the quality of popular science translations so that popular science works can truly play a role in spreading scientific knowledge. In this report,Migration: Exploring the Remarkable Journeys of Birds,a popular science work on bird migration,is selected to explore the difficulties in the popular science translation. The practice report uses the first nine chapters of the book as a study subject, analyzing the stylistic and linguistic features, and classifying the difficulties in the translation. It is found that,on the one hand, this kind of text has a large number of professional terms,so it is necessary to consult the authoritative information and unify the terms. On the other hand, due to the differences between English and Chinese,it is significant to adapt the translation from multiple dimensions to ensure the balance between the ecology of the source text and the ecology of the target text. There are many long and difficult sentences that are needed to be carefully analyzed the sentence structure and composition.Hence, based on the theory of Eco-translatology put forward by Hu Gengshen, this translation practice analyzes translation difficulties from the three aspects of language, culture and communication, adopts different translation strategies and methods to carry out three-dimensional transformation and solves translation problems,so as to maintain the ecological balance of bilingualism.By improving the readability of the translated text and adapting it to the language environment of the target language, the target text is finally adapted to the source text. This translation practice enriches the selection of guiding theories for popular science works, and also provides some reference translation techniques in the translation process. It is also expected to provide some reference suggestions for translations of popular science works such as bird migration.
