Rereach On The Relocations Of Rong’s Enterprise During The War Of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945)

Focusing on Rong’s enrterprise form 1937 to 1945,this paper specifically investigates the process of factory relocations after the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the resumption of work and development in the rear area.In the early 20th century,brothers Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng started factories with flour and textiles,and the enterprise expanded to Wuxi,Shanghai,Jinan and Wuhan.In 1937,when the full-scale the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out,Rong’s Enterprise suffered heavy losses.In response to the call of the national government,they relocated the 3^rdShenxin Factory and the Gong Yi Iron Factory in Wuxi to the inland,and the 4^thShenxin Textile Factory and the 5^thFuxin Flour Factory in Wuhan to Sichuan and Shaanxi which created the miracle of relocation in the industrial wasteland.Rong’s enterprise survives the war to develop and expand.The relocations of Rong’s enterprise is the product of wartime environment.The main body and process of the two relocation to the inland are different,which is closely related to the war development trend,the relocation policy of National government and Rong’s industrialists.But generally speaking,Rong’s industrialists who decided to move enterprises to Sichuan and Shaanxi at the time of national crisis play a important role in the relocations of their Enterprise.They are embodies national righteousness,patriotic feelings and worthy of praise.The successful relocations of Rong’s enterprise is faced with severe problems of Factory construction and resumption.The industrial base in the rear area was weak and lacked construction materials.The Factory which is in Chongqing and Baoji finally resumed work after overcoming many difficulties through the operation of Li Guowei who is the general manager.The relocated enterprise is the product of the wartime environment,which were bombed by the Japanese imperialists and faced difficulties such as inflation and economic control of National government.The relocation of Rong’s enterprise showed strong vitality in a desert,the head of the enterprise in the production,operation and management took active actions to maintain the rear production,established branch factories of flour and textile and set up a number of subsidiary enterprises.The result of this is that scale was expanded,the profit was quite profitable and become a model of relocation factories in wartime.The relocation of Rong’s enterprise promoted the development of the enterprise itself and the rear,and the military powder,military yarn and military cloth produced in the rear alleviated the shortage of civilian materials required during the War of Resistance,and made great contributions to the lasting War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.Generally speaking,Rong’s enterprise is the epitome of modern wartime national industry and commerce,which has typical significance to the study of national industrial history and wartime economic history.
