A Report On C-E Translation Of Research On Face Detection And Recognition(Excerpt)

Face detection and recognition is a hot topic in the field of computer technology,with great economic and social values.Based on the Chinese-English translation practice of the academic monograph Research on Face Detection and Recognition(Chapter 1 and Chapter 3),this report,discusses and summarizes the application of relevant English translation methods and techniques,etc.in the whole translation process,combined with Peter Newmark’s communicative translation theory,elaborates on the basic linguistic characteristics of scientific and technical texts,introduces the whole process of this translation practice activity,and argues the communicative nature of this translation practice from three dimensions: lexical level,syntactic level,and discourse level.Anchored in Newmark’s communicative translation theory,this translation practice report summarizes the different translation skills such as reorganization and sub-translation are used in the C-E translation activity of Research on Face Detection and Recognition based on Newmark’s communicative translation theory,in order to ensure that the translated text can better achieve the communicative purpose.This report is divided into five parts.The first part introduces the background,requirements,significance and structure of this translation practice;the second part briefly describe the whole translation practice,including the preparation before translation,processing during translation,proofreading and editing after translation;the third part mainly elaborates on the connotation,research abroad and at home and application scope of Newmark’s communicative translation theory;the fourth part combines the translator’s translation practice and analyzes the specific application of communicative translation theory and related English translation strategies and skills;the fifth part is the summary of this translation practice,which chiefly deals with the translator’s findings and suggestions.
