| Chi Zijian’s novels maintains a relatively uniform pace of creation.Every three to five years,a novel comes out,which contains a strong sense of tragedy.The academic community pays more attention to the warm side of her novels,but lacks exploration of the tragic consciousness in her novels.This article starts with the specific texts of her nine novels,and conducts a diachronic review of the tragic consciousness in her overall novels.It summarizes the content,artistic expression,and personalized factors that affect her tragic consciousness in her novels.The dissertation is divided into three parts:The first part mainly summarizes the manifestation of the tragic consciousness in Chi Zijian’s novels.This chapter summarizes the types of tragedies involved in Chi Zijian’s novels through textual scrutiny,mainly including childhood trauma tragedy,family ethics tragedy,individual survival tragedy,desire madness tragedy,and the dilemma between religion and the present world tragedy.It analyzes the reasons for the tragedies.The second part analyzes the artistic expression of the tragic consciousness in Chi Zijian’s novels.This chapter is based on the specific text of Chi Zijian’s novels,analyzing its relationship with the expression of tragic consciousness from the perspectives of colorful tragic images,diverse narrative perspectives,and warm prose writing techniques.Firstly,the imagery of sadness is divided into three aspects: the plant imagery of sadness,the animal imagery of sadness,and the folk imagery of sadness,revealing the metaphors condensed by the imagery;Secondly,presenting a diverse narrative perspective on the expression of tragic consciousness in Chi Zijian’s novels from the perspectives of "small figures,animals,omniscient,and mobile";Finally,from the perspective of warm prose style and tragic consciousness,it is discussed that Chi Zijian’s novels present a "focus on creating artistic conception,forming a unique lyrical style","downplay the plot,pay attention to the flow of characters’ inner thoughts",and a "gentle and soothing narrative rhythm" prose style,which buffers tragic conflicts and often appears warm but lacking in grandeur.The third part explains the inherent conflict of tragic consciousness in Chi Zijian’s novels.This chapter mainly starts from the internal conflict of tragic consciousness in her novels,discussing the refutation of the soul and body in daily life,the collision between historical forces and personal breakthroughs,the conflict between traditional authority and individual self,and the internal conflict between modern civilization and primitive life in her novels.Chi Zijian’s novels express a vision for individuals and novel characters to transcend tragic situations due to the emotional imagery at key points such as titles and endings.This approach to some extent alleviates the tragic conflicts in the novel and wears away the critical edge,making it difficult to form a lasting and stirring tragic spirit. |
