| This report is an E-C translation report of What Happened to You(Excerpts).The book was co-authored by the talk show hostess Oprah Winfrey and psychologist Bruce.D.Perry.The text is a book in the form of a dialogue,focusing on the topic of post-traumatic stress disorder which tends to meet to meet the needs of readers who want to understand the condition.There is no Chinese translation yet.This report expounds the whole translation process and analyzes the specific problems encountered in the translation process based on the practice.Due to the differences between English and Chinese and the professional knowledge involved in the selected text,the translator encountered some difficulties in the translation process.It is mainly reflected lexically and syntactically.At the lexical level,the translator discusses translation difficulties in the part of speech,proper nouns and polysemy.The translator adopts conversion,annotation,extension of meaning and turning words into phrase to solve the problems.At the syntactic level,the translator discusses translation difficulties in long sentences and complex sentences,translation difficulties in attributive and adverbial clauses.The translator adopts the methods of repetition,division,following original syntactic order and restructuring sentence structure to solve the problems.Through this translation practice,the translator has accumulated a lot of valuable experience,which will also be used in the future study.At the same time,it is also hoped that this translation practice and report can provide some reference for relevant translators. |
