Industrial civilization not only promote the development of the city,it is an organic part of urban culture.Industrial civilization made a large number of industrial heritage,is an important witness,urban development and change of life.The protection and activation of urban industrial heritage plays an important role in the continuance of urban context and the enrichment of cultural connotation and the dissemination of urban image.For a long time,Zhengzhou has been either “an ancient capital” or a rapidly developing modern metropolis.As an industrial city,the development history of Zhengzhou has been neglected for a long time,resulting in incomplete urban image building and communication.The full and distinctive city image is inseparable from the historical background and the development of the city.Zhengzhou is the intersection of Beijing-Guangzhou and Longhai railway.Zhengzhou was once one of the national textile industrial bases and an important metallurgical building materials base.However,with the change of the city,many industrial bases have been demolished and destroyed,and the few industrial heritages left are also of mixed quality.The memory of the city is fading away.Through the analysis of relevant literature,field investigation and in-depth interview,Firstly,the paper introduces the cases of industrial heritage protection and utilization at home and abroad.The experience tells us that developing cultural and creative industries is an effective way to activate urban industrial heritage.The cultural and creative industry pursues the value of time and wisdom,and is a combination of nostalgia and innovation.The cultural memory of industrial heritage is the foundation of the development of cultural and creative industry,and the cultural and creative industry should activate industrial heritage by creating urban creative space.Therefore,on the basis of the elaboration of the development history of Zhengzhou city and the status quo of Zhengzhou industrial heritage,it is pointed out that the development history of industry is an important link of the development history of Zhengzhou,and then from the time dimension,using The cultural memory theory of Jan Aseman,analyze the cultural memory and contemporary value of Zhengzhou industrial heritage.In terms of spatial dimension,based on Lefebvre’s spatial terarism,this paper considers the production of industrial heritage cultural creative space,analyzes the materiality,spirit and sociality of Zhengzhou industrial heritage as urban space after reproduction,and analyzes the reproduction of Zhengzhou industrial heritage virtual space in the media era.The analysis shows that the industrial heritage of Zhengzhou has not been fully utilized,and there are still defects in shaping and disseminating the city image:not enough attention was paid to the railway heritage and it was not well used;the overall protection mode is relatively single;the cultural connotation of industrial heritage is not fully explored;existing industrial heritage parks are over-commercialized;the media publicity is weak and the communication effect is not good.Based on the dual perspective of cultural creativity and urban communication,the following suggestions are put forward:do a good job in system planning and based on long-term development,protect physical space by combining the old with the new,enrich space content and activate space,build urban landmarks and integrate into urban life,strengthen media communication and tell City Stories well.
