With the in-depth development of economic globalization,many multinational companies are getting more and more attention from Chinese people.And the annual reports of companies are the main channels for people to know the real operating conditions and major events of these companies.Therefore,in the context of economic globalization,the translation of annual reports is of high value.The translator has chosen the Atlas Copco Group Annual Report 2020 as the translation material for this translation practice.Taking the Atlas Copco Group Annual Report 2020 as an example,guided by the Skopos theory,the translator achieved translation of terms by consulting parallel texts and specialized dictionaries,translation of headings by adding subjects,translation of long and complex sentences by using the division method and restructuring method,adding explanations to the content of the annual report by using the amplification method,flexible translation by using the passive voice and using the conjugation method to improve the coherence of the statements.The report is generally divided into seven parts.The first part introduces the source text,including the background of the topic,the source text and its target readers.The second part analyses the linguistic features of source text in terms of vocabulary,sentences and discourse and translation difficulties encountered by the translator during translation.The third part introduces the Skopos theory on which the task is based and explains how the theory was applied during the translation process.The fourth part introduces the preparation before translation,including background knowledge and translation tools.The fifth part is detailed case analysis based on the former analysis of translation difficulties.Then,the sixth part introduces the quality control after translation,including self-proofreading,peer-proofreading and target reader-proofreading.The last part reviews the translation practice and summarizes the experience.Finally,the report concludes that annual reports are financial informative texts and should always focus on its target readers by conveying effective information.When translators translate texts in this field,they can reasonably use relevant translation methods and strategies under the guidance of the Skopos theory to make the translation more fluent,readable and well-understood by target readers.
