| The translation of laws and regulations is an important task for a country to achieve the internationalization of its legal framework. As things stand,China is increasingly involved with the world and striking its root deep in the international investment and trade cooperation, which requires a more internationalized legal system to resolve the relevant international trade frictions.Accurate English translation of laws and regulations not only provides guidance and reference for foreign businesses to operate in China, but also plays a great role in China’s legal exchange events and causes for protecting our rights and interests.I participated in the translation of The Administrative Regulation on Dangerous Goods Road Transport(《危险货物道路运输管理规定》)in 2021.This report reviews this project, applies the communicative theory of legal translation proposed by Susan(?)ar(?)evi(?),and analyzes the translation process in the Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation(CEA)framework, thereby proposing and examining new approaches to the translation of legal texts and putting forward new requirements for translators. This report firstly sets out the basic information, introducing the project, the material for translation, the research objectives, and the structure of the report.Next, the literature review section summarizes the basic translation theories and existing domestic legal translation studies. The next part focuses on (?)ar(?)evi(?)’s communicative theory of legal translation, proposes to argue that the legal mechanism of legal texts is constituted by the stylistic features of legal texts, and introduces the CEA framework,so as to build the analysis architecture of this report. In the case analysis, the theory and methods of (?)ar(?)evi(?) are used to analyze the translation practice from the perspectives of comprehension, expression and adaptation,so as to test the feasibility of her theory and methods and improve the quality of the translation. At last, the conclusion part summarizes the whole report, sorts out the outcomes of the analysis, illustrates the limitations of the study, and proposes the expectations for future study. |
