| The Yellow Temple of Baluntai in Hejing County,Bayingoleng Mongol Autonomous Prefecture,Xinjiang,is the largest Tibetan Buddhist Gelugpa monastery in Mongolia of the Tulku Sect of South Xinjiang,and the only comprehensive temple building.Since its inception,the Yellow Temple of Baluntai has made a very important contribution to the strengthening of national unity,the prosperity and development of all ethnic groups,and social stability and harmony,and is a typical example of the development of Tibetan Buddhist temples in Xinjiang.Because of its special status,the Yellow Temple in Baluntai has been an important place for communication and development between various ethnic groups,including Mongolian,Tibetan and Chinese,since its construction in the Qing Dynasty.As a comprehensive temple architecture,the particularity of Baluntai yellow temple is not only reflected in the historical position of the Buddhist Center,but also in its diversified functions.As an important Tibetan Buddhist site,it plays a role in promoting Buddhist culture and maintaining the spiritual ties that bind all ethnic groups together in a cultural context of pluralism.As a vehicle for the fusion of different cultures and symbols,the Yellow Temple of Baluntai has an important cultural,artistic and contemporary appeal.This article takes the Yellow Temple of Baluntai as the subject of investigation and briefly examines the issue of the timing of its construction in an exposition of the temple’s history.Scholars’ articles on the site of the death of II.Cemelin nomenhan provide important clues for the study of the historical background of the Yellow temple in Baluntai.Based on the data of the military aircraft Office of the Qing Dynasty in China’s first historical archives,and combined with the historical background of the Qing Dynasty’s move to resettle the east to Mongolia,This paper holds that the Baluntai yellow temple was first built at one of two time points: the 40 th year of Qianlong(1775)or the 60 th year of Qianlong(1795).Through on-the-spot investigation and analysis of the architectural characteristics of the temple,this paper explores that its location selection follows the location selection concept of traditional Tibetan Buddhist buildings built close to the mountain,and analyzes the internal relationship of location selection from natural,religious and political factors.In the field investigation,I also found that there are two problems of mural peeling,collapse and potential harm of debris flow in temple buildings.After analysis and research,this paper puts forward feasible suggestions on the restoration and protection of mural peeling from the two aspects of mural restoration and tourist management.In view of the potential collapse of temple buildings and debris flow hazards,a perfect disaster pre plan system should be formulated.For example,strengthen protection,improve safety management mechanism,education and guidance and other specific solutions in different aspects. |
