Since the outbreak of novel coronavirus at the end of 2019,human beings have been fighting against it unremittingly. How to better deal with public health emergencies has become a hot topic of discussion. In the face of this serious global public health crisis,it is of vital importance to work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind. This report takes the series of radio programs of Bloomberg School of Public Health of Johns Hopkins University in the United States as materials to simulate the practice of simultaneous interpreting.According to Gile’s Effort Model, some typical cases are selected for comparative description and analysis. For the problems existing in the cases, the author adopts corresponding skills, including prediction, waiting, conversion and repetition in syntactic linearity,so as to solve the problems in the process of simultaneous interpretation:such as the hearing and analysis obstacles caused by the information density of the source language, the output lag of the target language caused by the differences between English and Chinese grammar, the short-term memory load caused by unfamiliar terms, etc.,and summarizes the coping strategies and methods. The author selected the current events of the COVID-19 pandemic as the material for the simulation of simultaneous transmission practice, under the guidance of the theory of Effort Model, using strategies such as syntactic linearity, combined with specific interpretation skills, targeted to solve the problem of transmission capacity.Through the comparative analysis and description of typical cases referring to Effort Model, this report proposes corresponding solutions to improve the translator’s interpretation level and provide experience and reference for future study and practice. |
