From Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji To Kong Shi Shi Lu

Relying on Confucian culture and the influence of Confucius,the Kong family,although not an imperial family,has continued in the change of dynasties,and its family documents have been continuously updated with the changes of the times.At present,the heirloom documents of the Kong family mainly include Dong Jia Za Ji,Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji,Kong Shi Shi Lu,Que Li Zhi,Que Li Wen Xian Kao,etc,which provided rich information for the research related to the Kong family.Both Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji and Kong Shi Shi Lu are materials for the study of the Kong family.However,scholars of the previous generation had many disputes on the author of the two books and the relationship between the texts.The research about Kong Shi Shi Lu is relatively straightforward.Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji was compiled and created by Kong Yuancuo,the fifty-first generation of Confucius’ grandson,on the basis of Kong Zonghan’s Jia Pu and Kong Chuan’s Kong Shi Zu Ting Za Ji.There are many versions in circulation,we’ll choose the version of Mongolian Turakina collected by National Library of China as reference.Kong Shi Shi Lu is not a history book in the form of "Records" except its name.This book first appeared in the Yuan Dynasty.Its author was Kong Yuanzuo,the fifty-first generation grandson of Confucius.This book was collected by ancient collection of essays and catalogues which were completed by the government or individual,such as Tong Jiang Ji,Wen Yuan Ge Shu Mu,Si Ku Quan Shu Zong Mu.We can find the only five volumes of Kong Shi Shi Lu in the Confucius Museum which were copped in Ming Dynasty.Based on the cross-references and other materials contained in the book,Kong Shi Shi Lu were roughly written from kublai Khan the 25 th year of the period of Zhi Yuan(1288)to Temür Khan the seventh year of Da De(1303),and later than Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji,which was written in the fourth year of Zheng Da(1227)in Jin Dynasty.After reading the contents of the two books,the pictures,and the specific content literature,it can be found that the Kong Shi Shi Lu is indeed based on the Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji,but there are still innovative additions in its content arrangement and inclusion,and it should be regarded as a continuation of the Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji.The two books Kong Shi Zu Ting Guang Ji and Kong Shi Shi Lu are in line with the development and transformation trend of genealogy since the Song Dynasty in terms of content,scope and style.Witch were also witness of the Kong family participating in the construction of the culture of genealogy,under the rule of ethnic minorities.The two books contained rich historical materials,which provide us with valuable references for historical research.As the genealogy of the Kong family,its primary role is to indicate lineage and clear up concubine to achieve the purpose of receiving the clan.From the two books we could understand the various developments of genealogical content and schema since the Song Dynasty,and the content of the books can also be used to supplement the gap between the main history books and local chronicles,and improve the study of historical materials.Of course,when using the genealogy books,we must also pay attention to the authenticity of its historical materials.
