| The past decade has seen tremendous progress achieved by e-commerce,and such success has been further facilitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.A research-oriented report with factual data on e-commerce in this unprecedented time is able to provide a professional point of view helping the world better understand the development and challenges under the trends of global e-commerce.This translation project selects the report Covid-19 and E-commerce:a Global review as the source text.It analyzes the current status-quo of e-commerce in developing countries and the challenges in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic,while offering possible applicable suggestions for countries to seize the potential opportunities.China is the world’s biggest e-commerce market,therefore,the author hopes this translation report could provide some insight for the future thriving of Chinese e-commerce market.The report Covid-19 and E-commerce:a Global review is a research-oriented report featuring logical,formal,political-sensitive and objective.The author choose the functional equivalence theory of Nida as the translation guidance tool because a)the priority of reproducing message from the view of the writer;b)the intelligibility of the translation form the views of the receptors.Under the guidance of the functional equivalence,the author applies several methods in lexical and syntactical level to produce the most equivalent message.English is predominant in nouns whereas Chinese is abundant with verbs,therefore,shift of part-of-speech is used during the translating process.As long and complex sentences are widely seen in the original report,sentence splitting and restructuring are used in order to acquire a translation that is in line with the reading habits of the TT readers while conveying the message of the original text.The author summarizes translation difficulties and solutions based on her translation practice thereby providing references for others who is interested in the field of e-commerce translation. |
