A Report On C-E Translation Of Field Of Vision(Excerpts)from The Perspective Of Communicative Translation

In the report,the material is the first two parts of the essay Field of Vision.It is written by Tao Yong and his close friend Li Run.Tao Yong is the chief ophthalmologist in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital.The material tells the story of Tao Yong’s personal experience of being hurt and disabled by a patient,and it leads us to think about the multiple conflicts between doctors and patients in the society.The language of material has the following characteristics:at the lexical level,the material contains culture-loaded words and four-word idioms.At the syntactic level,the author’s language tends to be colloquial,which contains many typical runon sentences and active sentences.At the textual level,some paragraphs with stacked structures and classic sentences can be found in the essay,which need the translator to solve the difficulties.Guided by the communicative translation,this report is mainly to achieve communicative effect to the maximum extent.At the same time,on the basis of conveying the message of the original text faithfully,the translator should attempt to serve for the target readers and respect their reading habits.It is pretty important to make the translation acceptable.In this report,the translator mainly adopts direct translation with notes,free translation,paraphrasing and other translation strategies,which are useful for culture-loaded words and four-character idioms.At the syntactic level,the translator mainly analyzes deep syntactic structure and meaning.At the time,the translator uses comprehensive translation methods such as amplification,division,combination and omission to explore the deep logical relationship.At the textual level,the translator uses various translation methods to flexibly deal with the content and form of the material.Based on communicative translation,this report discusses the difficulties encountered in translation and the solutions by specific case analysis.The translator believes that it is necessary to understand the differences between Chinese and Western cultures and keep the meaning of the original text.Meanwhile,the translator needs to conform to the reading habits of the target language readers in terms of language expression as much as possible,which can continuously improve the quality of the translation.
