| The global spread of COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the economies of various countries,with tourism being one of the industries most affected by the epidemic.Under such circumstances,revitalizing tourism has become an urgent task for all countries.The governments are bound to take various measures to restart the tourism industry after the epidemic.Tourism texts are rich in content,wide in coverage and strong in appeal,which is the best choice for tourists to make outbound travel plans.Therefore,in order to restore and expand the domestic tourism market,the translation of tourism texts is particularly important.High-quality translated texts are reader-centered conveying tourism information in the most acceptable language form and stimulating readers’ interest in tourism,which will promote the development of tourism.Similarly,the communicative translation theory proposed by Newmark tries to make the translation readers have the same feelings as the original ones and emphasizes the reader-centered approach,thus having a strong guiding significance for the translation of tourism texts.This translation practice is based on the guidebook Rick Steves Paris 2020 written by the American writer Rick Steves and the selected translation parts are about Marais and Champs-Elysees walk in this book,which is a beneficial attempt to the Chinese translation of tourism texts.The text types and characteristics of the original text are analyzed in this report.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,the author uses a variety of translation methods and skills to solve the proper nouns,culture-loaded words,imperatives and parenthesis which appear frequently in the translation process from the lexical level and the sentence level.The author deeply understands the application of Newmark’s communicative translation theory in the Chinese translation of tourism texts and looks forward to providing reference value for the Chinese translation of similar texts. |
