Interpersonal regret refers to the emotion caused by hurting another person in interpersonal communication or failing in interpersonal communication, resulting in counterfactual thinking and thinking that different actions should be taken before to make the event result better.Individuals with high interpersonal regret will change their parenting style and pro-social behavior, but long-term addiction may lead to depression. At present, the research on interpersonal regret mainly focuses on the discussion of external influencing factors. Therefore,on the basis of combing the relevant literature at home and abroad, this study intends to study the influence of explicit self-esteem and implicit self-esteem on interpersonal regret, the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity, and further explore the influence of the degree of selfesteem separation on interpersonal regret.Firstly, through convenient sampling,424 college students were selected as the research subjects, and the explicit self-esteem,implicit self-esteem,interpersonal regret and interpersonal sensitivity were assessed by Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, implicit association test, interpersonal regret questionnaire and interpersonal sensitivity questionnaire. After the difference test, correlation analysis, regression analysis and moderating intermediary effect test, the following conclusions are drawn:(1)Explicit self-esteem and implicit self-esteem are not related to each other.(2)Explicit selfesteem and implicit self-esteem are negatively correlated with interpersonal sensitivity and interpersonal regret.Interpersonal sensitivity is positively correlated with interpersonal regret.(3)Interpersonal sensitivity plays an intermediary role in the influence of self-esteem on interpersonal regret.(4)Implicit self-esteem plays a regulatory role in the first half of the mediation model and the direct path.Secondly, taking the degree of self-esteem separation as the independent variable, the relationship between the degree of self-esteem separation and interpersonal regret was further verified through experiments.Firstly,a pre-experiment was conducted to evaluate the experimental materials for improving and lowering implicit self-esteem.The results showed that the priming materials for improving and lowering implicit selfesteem were effective and would not change explicit self-esteem.In the formal experiment,37 subjects in the high explicit-low implicit self-esteem group were selected as the subjects whose explicit self-esteem score was in the first 27% and implicit self-esteem D score was in the last 27%.Individuals with explicit self-esteem scores in the last 27% and implicit self-esteem D scores in the first 27% were selected as 38 subjects in the low explicit-high implicit self-esteem group. The high explicit-low implicit self-esteem group completed the priming process of lowering implicit selfesteem, while the low explicit-high implicit self-esteem group completed the priming process of improving implicit self-esteem.The results showed that the degree of interpersonal regret of the two kinds of self-esteem subjects was significantly improved after the degree of self-esteem separation increased. It was concluded that the degree of interpersonal regret would increase with the degree of self-esteem separation. On the basis of investigating the relationship between self-esteem and interpersonal regret, this study further explored the interaction between implicit selfesteem and explicit self-esteem on interpersonal regret, and verified the mediating role of interpersonal sensitivity. At the same time, the research results suggest that increasing the degree of self-esteem separation will improve interpersonal regret. This study is helpful to provide evidence support for the research on the relationship between selfesteem and interpersonal regret, and provide new ideas for controlling and improving the degree of interpersonal regret.By changing implicit self-esteem in a healthy way, individual self-esteem can be maintained at an appropriate level and good consistency, interpersonal harmony can be promoted, and individual mental health can be developed. In the future, further discussion can be made on the intermediary variables, subjects and research methods.
