As a core text that shapes the character of the people,influences their way of thinking,and cultivates social values,the Analects of Confucius has a powerful function.The chapter of the Analects,"A gentleman is not a pot" is simple but profound,and contains a broad philosophy of the gentleman and the world.Through combing,it can be seen that ancient scholars’ interpretations of the chapter "A gentleman is not a pot" are mainly divided into three aspects : a gentleman’s ability is extensive,a gentleman’s morality is comprehensive,and a gentleman seeks the way to follow the way;modern scholarson the basis of inheriting the views of the sages,interpret this chapter as "a gentleman cultivates his body and virtue and breaks Some scholars interpret this chapter as " the gentleman should break the boundaries of his profession and occupation and become a generalist in society ",taking into account the social needs of the new era.From this,we can see that learning,talent,virtue,and the Way basically constitute the main contents of the multiple interpretations of the chapter " A gentleman is not a tool ".Confucianism,as" learning for oneself ",is full of self-awareness and morality,aiming at the self-improvement of the educated and the outward development of morality,rounding out the individual’s learning,talent,and morality."
