Shostakovich is recognised as one of the most famous composers of the 20 th century, both in the Soviet Union and in the world. The Fifth Symphony is one of the composer’s most representative symphonies,a masterpiece of the symphony in its distinctive style. It is one of the most representative of Shaw’s symphonies, and its distinctive style is one of the masterpieces of the symphony. It has been performed all over the world because of its popular and realistic nature;it has been chosen as an indispensable entry in international conducting competitions because of its philosophical and tragic nature;and it is a work that conducting students must master because of its academic and logical content. The changes of tempo and rhythmic metre in the Fifth Symphony are varied and complex. After studying the more traditional structures and theoretical techniques in the score,it is necessary to adapt the conducting techniques to them in order to interpret the musical content behind the work in a consistent manner. In this paper,a brief analysis of the structure of the whole movement of the Fifth Symphony is presented, based on which the tempo changes in the score can be reasonably explained,as well as the various compound metre and tonal changes.Through a review of relevant literature and a study of the score, the aim is to combine theoretical techniques with conducting techniques in order to lay a solid foundation for better analysis of the score and rehearsals of such pieces in the future.
