Role Shaping And Singing Analysis Of The Leading Actor Grieux In Opera Manon

Massenet was the most representative composer and educator in France from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century.He is good at writing beautiful and lyrical melodies,and his music style is very entertaining.His works are concentrated in the field of opera all his life.Most of the content is taken from literary works.With a passionate and free,complex and changeable woman as the protagonist,his works such as "Thais","Manon","Werther" and so on are deeply loved by the French people.The opera "Manon" is a five-act opera created by Massenet in 1884.The content of the opera is adapted from the novel of the French writer Prevost,and its full name is "The Story of the Knight de Grieux and Manon Lescaut",which is the representative work of the French classical novels in the 18th century.Massenet has adapted a lot of the original plot,integrated his understanding of the characters into his music creation and image portrayal,improved the development logic of the opera plot,reflected the dramatic conflict between soul and flesh,and fully demonstrated his talent in melody writing.The opera style is sweet and sad,and the song creation is full of the characteristics of French pronunciation and recitation,which made this opera a great success at its premiere.Together with Bizet’s Carmen and Gounod’s Faust,it is known as the three representative works of French opera,affecting the later opera creation of composers such as Puccini.It is the famous work of Massenet ’s opera career,and is still active on the stage of major opera houses.The research of this paper is divided into four chapters based on the hero " Grieux " in the opera.The first chapter is literature review,which introduces novels,composers and operas,expounds the development process from literary works to opera works,and helps us understand the creative ideas of composers.The second chapter analyzes the characters of the hero Grieux,from the image characteristics in novels and operas,to understand the dramatic connotation of the characters,and the emotional expression in actual singing.In the third and fourth chapters,the music creation and singing analysis of the two arias "When I Close My Eyes "and "Disappear the Beautiful Image" are carried out respectively,referring to the model singing of different singers,the music processing of the songs and the emotional expression in singing are analyzed,and the two most important psychological changes of the characters are understood,so as to provide help for the role and singing of the songs.
