| With the increase of global exchanges,the demand for language service talents is expanding.In order to meet the urgent needs for high-level translation professionals,the Master of Translation and Interpreting(MTI)degree came into being.The number of MTI institutions has increased to 316 in 11 batches now,including 28 in Beijing.Although many studies have been conducted recently on MTI curriculum,faculty training and other issues,there are few studies that pay attention to MTI students’ learning motivation.Learning motivation directly or indirectly affects all aspects of students.Studying MTI students’ learning motivation is significant to strengthen the construction of translation discipline and the training quality.This study,based on quantitative research(418 questionnaires)and qualitative research(20 interviewees),aims to explore the types and level of MTI students’ learning motivation and the impact of it on study engagement and career planning by taking MTI students in Beijing’s universities as an example.The author refers to the relevant domestic and foreign literature,adopts scales prepared by Zhang Mulin and other scholars to formulate the questionnaire,delivers the questionnaire through the “Wenjuanxing” platform,and makes an empirical analysis by SPSSAU.During the distribution of the questionnaire,the author conducted interviews with some respondents.According to the quantitative research and qualitative research,the results show that:(1)MTI students’ internal motivation is higher than external motivation;(2)Learning motivation has a positive impact on study engagement;(3)Learning motivation has a positive impact on career planning.Based on the above analysis,this study puts forward targeted feasible suggestions,hoping to better understand students’ academic needs and stimulate MTI students’ learning motivation. |
