Nowadays, with the increasing trend of globalization, countries are becoming more and more connected, which creates more and more needs for translation. At the same time, the rapid development of science and technology has laid a solid technical foundation for the transformation of translation mode, and computer-aided translation is born at the right moment.Trados,a kind of translation software with powerful functions such as Translation Memory, term management, translation project management and network sharing,is favored by high-quality translators. With the continuous enhancement of China’s comprehensive national strength, the development of mechanical manufacturing industry is in full swing. From simple processing products from the beginning to today’s technical products,China’s export products have changed a lot,China railway is a typical example among them. The source text of this report is a technical document for the Bangkok monorail project, which describes the maintenance and overhaul requirements for the INNOVIA 300 monorail project in Bangkok,Thailand. This report applied such methods as analysis of cases, comparative study and descriptive approach. The author finished the report in the environment of SDL Trados 2019.In addition, with the guidance of Peter Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation theories, the author solved many problems encountered in the process of mechanical English translation at lexical, syntactic and textual levels. With the assistance of Trados and the guidance of Newmark’s translation theories, this report discussed how the author exerts subjective initiative in the translation process to produce a good translation that meets the market demand,so that which can provide reference for subsequent translators when translating this type of text when using Trados.
