Intangible cultural heritage is a shining jewel in China’s long history and culture,and its translation is an important means to show cultural self-confidence and enhance cultural “soft power”.How to solve the translation difficulties and accurately and effectively translate the historical and cultural information contained in intangible cultural heritage texts into another language is urgently needed to conduct in-depth research and discussions on this field.Therefore,the translation of intangible cultural heritage is of considerable necessity and importance.The report conducted a study of translation on the publicity text Preservation and Industrial Development of Intangible Cultural Heritage(Chapter 11)from the perspective of P.Newmark’s Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation theory.Under the guidance of Semantic Translation theory,the structure and contextual connotations of the original text are reproduced to the greatest extent,and the source language culture in the translation can be well preserved,by accurately presenting the meaning of words,retaining the original form and conveying cultural connotations.Under the guidance of Communicative Translation theory,the translation becomes fluent,natural,and more in line with the language habits of the target language readers,through subjective complement,changing voice and adjusting word order.Under the guidance of the combination of Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation theory,it enables the translator to produce a better translation by focusing on semantic features and communicative language features.It’s found that flexible application of Newmark’s Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation theories to publicity texts can not only reproduce the expressive effect of the original text to a certain extent,but also greatly enhance the readability and quality of the translation.It can be concluded that Newmark’s Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation have important enlightening and guiding significance in the translation of publicity texts.
