A Translation Project Report Of Men Writing The Feminine:Literature,Theory,and The Question Of Genders

Since the late 19th century to the 20 th century,four waves of women’s liberation movements and feminist(literary)critical theories have occurred in the West.In the process of literary and cultural exchanges between China and the West,feminism and translation have been skillfully combined to form a unique feminist view of translation and translation strategies.With the rapid development of China,feminism with different concepts has emerged in academia,social media,and even in public welfare organizations,and more and more people have begun to pay attention to the rights and status of contemporary women,and the author has also noticed the feminist translation theory as a different concept of translation.Feminism takes "gender" as the entry point of literary critical theory research,which breaks through the traditional values,and feminist translation concept is committed to changing the subordinate position of women in traditional translations and challenging the traditional male-dominated society.The author chooses this theory and strategy in order to explore women’s discourse in translation and make the translation more relevant to the feminist color that the original text is intended to express.The original English version of this translation is an excerpt of two essays from the feminist anthology Men Writing the Feminine: Literature,Theory,and the Questions of Genders by American author Tha?s E.Morgan.The report draws on four translation strategies offered by Luise Von Flotow,a leading figure in Canadian feminist translation theory,namely prefacing,footnoting,supplementing,and hijacking,to analyze and solve the difficulties encountered in translation practice,and to reflect feminist consciousness and feminist ideas in the text.This translation report is divided into four chapters,including project introduction,task description,case study and practice conclusion.The first chapter briefly introduces the source of this translation project and the significance of the translation project,and briefly outlines the structure of the translation project report;the second chapter covers the analysis of the text,the preparation before translation,the problems encountered during translation,and the process of revision and proofreading after translation;the third chapter is the focus of this report,which elaborates the important and difficult problems encountered during translation,analyzes how one deals with them,and briefly introduces Feminist translation theory and its application at home and abroad now,as well as how the author applied feminist translation strategies to guide the translation;the last chapter summarizes the insights and lessons learned from the author’s practice in this translation project,as well as the unresolved problems in translation.
