Parent-toddler Drama is a branch of Children’s Theater.It is based on the general Children’s theater,further subdividing the audience,and through a series of script design and stage performance,it enables parents to participate more in the theater activities,thus enhancing the communication and interaction between the parent audience and the child audience.This kind of Parent-toddler interaction makes Children’s theater have more educational properties,and also enables parents to use theater as a medium to understand their children’s growth process more deeply.In the past decade,many of the theater productions in the Shanghai Children’s theater market have distinctive "parent-toddler" characteristics.From the perspective of the creative body,the parent-toddler creation of state-run Children’s Theater companies focuses on "storyline" to trigger the communication between parents and children,while private children’s institutions are more active in introducing foreign pioneering children’s plays and rehearsing original plays,focusing on the development of stage space,and enhancing the joint experience of parents and children in the form of theater games,theater forums and theater parades.The private children’s institutions are more active in introducing foreign pioneering Children’s Theatre and rehearsing original plays,focusing on the development of stage space,and constantly enhancing the common experience of parents and children in the form of drama games,drama forums and drama parades.In terms of theater construction,children’s plays for parents and children prefer small,micro-theaters,where compact space is conducive to communication between actors and audiences,and audiences and audiences.From the viewpoint of audience survey,the consumer group is mostly preschool children’s families.Young parents attach importance to cultural consumption,pay attention to the entertainment,artistic and educational attributes of Children’s Theater,hope to increase the participation of parents and audience in the theater,and show a positive attitude towards Parent-toddler Drama.From the viewpoint of the performance market,the ticket price of Parent-toddler Drama is too expensive,and most of the plays exist in the form of artistic performance combined with supporting parent-toddler activities.Parent-toddler Drama allows children and parents to participate in many aspects of theater performance through interaction,and also allows the identities of actors,directors and audiences to interchange or even overlap with each other,thus forming a multifaceted and mixed mode of theater communication by actors,parent audiences and child audiences.This greatly mobilizes the audience’s enthusiasm to watch the play,and also builds a new platform for modern family education through the medium of theater,highlighting the educational function of Children’s Theater through hands-on experience and communication.Of course,as a new type of theater,Parent-toddler Drama also has corresponding shortcomings: for example,the parent-toddler education concept of the creators is not yet unified,the effective expression form of parent-child interaction is not diversified enough,there is a lack of excellent original scripts,the ticket price of some performances is too expensive,the age stratification of the audience is too limited,and so on.In this paper,we will analyze the current situation of Parent-toddler Drama creation and performance and look forward to its future development,taking the Parent-toddler Drama performances in Shanghai in the past ten years(2012-2022)as the survey sample.Chapter 1 defines the definition,characteristics,classification and current situation of children’s theater in the context of the national development of children’s theater;Chapter 2 conducts a detailed investigation of the ten-year development of parent-child children’s theater in Shanghai from five aspects: creation,repertoire creation,performance theater,audience group and performance market;Chapter 3 analyzes the unique advantages of Parent-toddler Drama;Chapter 4 reflects on the creation of parent-child children’s theater,summarizes its shortcomings,and makes corresponding suggestions for its future development strategies;Finally,there is a concluding section. |
