| Liaoning writer Sun Chunping has always been concerned with reality,and in his novels he writes about the social changes,changes in values and changes in people’s behavior during the reform period in many ways,presenting people’s living conditions and mental states in a realistic way.Compared with his contemporaries who reveal the social contradictions of the reform period,Sun Chunping’s revelation of moral failures and other problems,his search for an ideal society,and his artistic style have their own characteristics.By looking back at the social reality of the reform period and the literary world of the 1980 s and 1990 s,this dissertation systematically discusses the themes,artistic characteristics,and practical significance of Sun’s novels from three perspectives: the content of Sun’s novels that reveal problems,the methods of revealing problems,and the conceptions of solving problems.The thesis is divided into three parts: the introduction,the body,and the conclusion.In the introductory section,tracing the origin of Social Issues Novels,the current state of research on Sun Chunping’s novels is reviewed,and the significance and value of the thesis is clarified.The thesis is divided into three sections: the introduction,the body,and the conclusion.The body of the dissertation consists of three chapters:The first chapter analyzes the theme of Sun Chunping’s novels that reveal social problems.The conflict between the old and the new systems and civilizations is bound to lead to many social problems.Sun reveals the corruption of social order by privileges,the impact of utilitarianism on ethics and morality,and the confrontation between traditional social value systems and modern civilization from three levels: institutional,ideological,and cultural.The writer both rationally analyzes and reflects on the social problems caused by modern civilization,and at the same time urges people to be alert to the backward elements of traditional culture that bind people.The second chapter of the thesis analyzes the evolution of problem consciousness in Sun’s novels and the artistic way of presenting the problems.The problem consciousness in Sun’s novels develops from shallow to deep,reflecting the deepening of the writer’s understanding and expression of life,and forming his own creative characteristics.From the artistic point of view,Sun Chunping inherits the critical spirit and humanitarian spirit of critical realist literature,while drawing on the artistic nutrients of classical literature to naturally combine the realism of social issues with the artistry of literature.The third chapter of the thesis analyzes Sun Chunping’s social vision of the social problems of the reform period.In his novels,Sun portrays a series of characters with moral ideals,a modern sense of the rule of law,and a balance between "profit" and "righteousness" in the market economy.As Chinese society becomes increasingly secular and market-oriented,although people’s material needs are basically satisfied,their spirit is lost.Through these characters with moral ideals,the author hopes to provide a reference for shaping values in the reform era.The concluding section provides an objective evaluation of Sun Chunping’s fictional creations and summarizes their realistic significance and literary-historical value. |
