Marx And Engels’ Ecological Philosophy And Its Contemporary Value

The development of the Industrial Revolution triggered a profound transformation in human society.Also the rapid increase in productivity brought unprecedented economic benefits to human society.But this was followed by the gradual deterioration of the natural ecological environment and the frequent occurrence of ecological crises.The frequent occurrence of ecological crises has triggered human beings’ deep reflection on their relationship with the nature.It was on this basis that the ecological philosophy of Marx and Engels came into being.On the premise of the rapid development of capitalist economy and the great progress of natural science,Marx and Engels established their unique dialectical materialist ecological philosophy through four stages of germination,formation,development and maturity,which was based on the abandonment of Hegel’s dialectic,the absorption of Feuerbach’s anthropological materialism and the inheritance of Epicurus’ materialist philosophy.Based on the social reality,Marx and Engels insisted on the principles of comprehensiveness,systematization and science,and conducted detailed studies and researches on the relationship between human beings and nature.Not only did they clarify the pre-conditionality of nature,human beings’ dependence on nature,and the restraining role of nature when people exerted their subjective initiative,but from the root they also revealed that it was capitalist private ownership that has led to the deterioration of the relationship between human beings and nature,and that the basic contradiction of capitalist private ownership is the root cause of the frequent ecological crises.By comparing capitalist private ownership with the communist system,Marx and Engels clearly proposed that only by establishing a communist system and a communist society could the ecological crisis be solved fundamentally and completely.The ecological philosophy of Marx and Engels not only provides the basic theoretical guidance and scientific methodological choice for the proletariat to get rid of the existing difficulties and realize the harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature under the conditions of capitalist private ownership,but also points out the direction for promoting China’s green development,promoting the harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature,and building socialist ecological civilization in the new era.The purpose of this paper is to further study and summarize the formation background,development logic,main contents and contemporary values of Marx and Engels’ ecological philosophy thought.By carefully studying the classic works of Marx and Engels in different periods,we can rationalize the formation background and development logic of their ecological philosophical thought,and further refine and summarize the main contents of their ecological philosophical thought,and finally grasp the value of his ecological philosophical thought comprehensively and systematically in the light of the actual development of the world today.The study concludes that Marx and Engels’ ecological philosophical thought has further enriched and developed the value system of Marxist theory,and laid a solid theoretical foundation for promoting China’s green development,promoting the harmonious coexistence of human beings and nature,and realizing the construction of socialist ecological civilization in the new era.At the same time,it also provides correct and scientific methodological guidance for solving the global ecological crisis.
