A Study On Li Sheng A Famous General In The Tang Dynasty

Li Sheng was one of the three famous generals in the period of Dezong.Li Sheng resisted the northwest ethnic groups,aided the battle field of Heshuo,and recovered Chang ’an.He had a vital influence on the continuation of the history of Tang Dynasty and was widely respected by later generations.Pei Du’s "Li Sheng tablet",Liu Yun’s "Old Tang Book",and Ouyang Xiu’s "New Tang Book" all contain records and comments on Li Sheng’s life achievements.The three texts were written at different times.The author of Li Sheng’s writing may be different.On the basis of comparing the documents and material materials,the author confirms the claim that Li Sheng was born in Lintan,and combs the Li Sheng clan and formulates the family lineage table.At the same time,textual analysis of "Li Sheng stele" is made,and the reasons for the errors in the contents of "Li Sheng stele" are analyzed after the analogy of four inscriptions.Based on the textual research,Li Sheng’s personal experience is elaborated.Li Sheng joined the army at the age of 18 and fought with Wang Zhongsi against the Tuiking and Qiang ethnic groups.Li Sheng entered the Central Plains at the age of 54 and entered the Pingfan War from the northwest frontier.During the three years of Jianzhong to the first year of the Xingyuan Dynasty,during the "Mukden Disaster" beginning with the "Jingyuan Mutiny",Li Huaiguang entered the main battlefield of the high-light zone.Especially after Li Huaiguang left the river,he tried to save the tide and recover Chang’an.It continued the Tang Dynasty’s Li dynasty.After reading and comparing the three historical texts,it was found that due to the relationship between the emperors and their subjects,the "Li Sheng tablet" was completed more than thirty years after Li Sheng’s death.And the important experience of Li Sheng "Pingliang raiding alliance" also because of Peidu’s consideration of reality did not enter the monument.For the same practical reasons,Pei Du and the writers of the two Tang Dynasty’s books transformed Li Sheng’s achievements into "loyalty","courage" and "filial piety" based on the Confucian moral system,and thus wrote and evaluated Li Sheng.Although Li Sheng was a soldier and horseman throughout his life,he was suspected of being selfish and murderous to his colleagues,but he defended the frontiers and recovered Chang’an.His success in shaping his image was respected by the world and his words and deeds were loyal to the monarch and his country.For people today,it has always played a positive role.
