With the continuous development of the Internet,historical documentaries have become a new type of media that integrates vision and hearing.They can more vividly show the cultural connotation and historical changes of a nation.They are the friendly envoys of a country’s foreign exchange and an important method and way to achieve the external dissemination of culture.Up to now,the research on the external communication of national history and culture in many countries has focused on the communication channels,and few have started with documentaries,especially the comparative research on the creation of documentaries on historical themes in China and Britain.This paper attempts to understand the similarities and differences of historical documentaries between China and Britain by comparing them.British documentaries are renowned for their advanced creative techniques,and the competent department of British TV Channel 4 is the British Department of Culture,Sports,and Media.It is a broadcasting agency owned by the British government and the mouthpiece of the British government.In China,it is self-evident that the importance of documentaries which are produced by CCTV for the spread of Chinese cultural.Therefore,I choose two historical documentaries about two main roads,one is The English Channel: The World’s busiest Waterway jointly produced by British TV Channel 4 and Blast!film company,the other is Hexi Corridor produced by CCTV.It is intended to explore the specific characteristics of the cultural and historical documentaries of the two countries from the perspective of narratology.The first chapter of this article is introduction,research significance,goal,method,domestic and foreign research present situation and the theory which uses.The second chapter defines the relevant concepts of historical documentaries,and introduces the status quo and characteristics of historical documentaries in China and Britain.The third chapter analyzes the narrator’s narrative perspective,narrative means and narrative style of Hexi Corridor and English Channel: The Busiest Waterway in the World.Chapter Four discusses the similarities between the two documentaries and concludes that the factors affecting the two countries’ external communication include ideology,cultural discount and audience.The fifth chapter discusses the new media era of Chinese humanities and history under the theme of documentary should be how to develop.This paper will discuss the similarities and differences in the creation of historical documentaries between China and the United Kingdom.The purpose of comparison is not to distinguish between the superior and the inferior,but to learn from the West,keep to the right and innovate,improve the creative theory of Chinese historical documentaries and enhance cultural confidence.In order to promote China’s excellent humanities and history documentary in the world. |
