A Report On C-E Mock Consecutive Interpreting Of 2022-2023 Made By Bilibili From The Muti-modal Perspective

This Chinese-English consecutive interpreting practice was an exercise based on the 2022-2023 Made by Bilibili in classroom.This launch event has 6 chapters,focusing on 21 new-released works.The topics of the launch event which involved a mount of specialized vocabulary are mostly focused on the development of Chinese animation and each speaker’s in-depth thinking about the industry,so the professional level of the interpreter must be high.At the same time,the information at this launch event was delivered through presentation,live dubbing and short videos,which not only enhances the interest of the event but also brought challenges to the interpretation task at the same time.Interpreter needs to allocate energy appropriately in launch event.Gill believes that any form of interpretation contains three basic efforts: listening and analysis effort,speech production effort and short-term memory effort.The cognitive load required for interpretation must be less than the cognitive load provided by the brain.Therefore,in this launch event,the author exploited the presentation to relieve the pressure of listening comprehension and the video images to assist in understanding.Since Chinese animation contains more traditional cultural elements,the author adopted translation strategies such as zero translation,free translation and literal translation to interpret for retaining their cultural connotation.This report aims to explore multi-modal interpretation and propose methods to deal with it through the analysis of typical cases,hoping to provide reference for other interpreters.
