Information completeness,as a universally recognized measurement evaluating the quality of interpretation,is a common challenge faced by many interpreters, especially in simultaneous interpretation. Therefore,it is worthy of in-depth discussion and research on how to improve information completeness with the new work mode of remote simultaneous interpreting(RSI).In the form of simulated RSI of the live streaming video of the 2021 CICEE opening ceremony, this practice report aims to explore the causes of information loss in Chinese-English remote simultaneous interpreting and its coping tactics after transcription and analysis of the interpreting record.Through a comprehensive analysis of this interpreting activity, the thesis concludes that, manifested as omission, errors, and misinterpretation, information loss in RSI is mainly caused by imbalanced effort allocation, inadequate understanding, complex source language, and limitations of RSI work mode.By combining previous research theories with the author’s interpreting practice, the report proposes four coping tactics accordingly:first, make reasonable effort allocation;second, enhance cognitive complements;third, improve the application of interpreting skills and term management method;fourth, adapt to RSI equipment and working method. It is hoped that this thesis can provide some reference for interpretation practitioners and researchers in the aspects of RSI. |
