The report is written based on a simultaneous interpretation of What about “Digital Transformation”? by Luo Zhenyu. After the initial interpretation of the material, the interpreter finds that the speech contains a lot of implicit information, and whether the same and similar effects of implicit information can be delivered to the target audience will make a big difference for the interpretation quality. The interpreter adopts Wu Xiaojun’s classification of implicit information causing difficulties into three categories:(1)implicit semantic information;(2)implicit cultural information;(3)implicit logical information.Corresponding coping tactics are suggested based on Relevance Theory.Relevance Theory advocates that human communication is an ostensive-inferential process involving information intention and communicative intention.Expectation of optimal relevance,a translation guide, requires us to achieve:(1)sufficient relevance between the target text and the target readers;(2)adequate contextual effects at minimal processing cost.On this basis, the interpreter applies corresponding strategies:(1)adopting extension and free translation for implicit semantic information;(2)adopting specification, substitution and amplification for implicit cultural information;(3)adopting amplification and simplification for implicit logical information. This interpreter discusses the difficulties caused by the implicit information in What about“Digital Transformation”? and puts forward the corresponding solutions, which can be used as a reference for future interpreting practice.
