A Report On The C-E Translation Of Aircraft Leasing Principles And Operations(Chapter 6)

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic,the global aviation industry has suffered a huge impact.and the domestic aviation industry is also facing unprecedented challenges.The crisis gave birth to development opportunities,and the domestic aircraft leasing industry took this opportunity to go against the trend,which not only maintained a stable growth trend,but also promoted the recovery of the domestic aviation industry.Given the strong performance of the aircraft leasing industry in the crisis,the translator selected the 6^th chapter of Aircraft Leasing Principle and Operations as the source text,and then translated it into English under the guidance of Katharina Reiss’Text Typology Theory.Aircraft Leasing Principle and Operations was written by Guo Yuqiang and published in 2019.At present,the book is one of the few publications that introduces the knowledge of aircraft leasing in China,and it has certain reference significance for promoting the development of China’s aviation leasing industry.The sixth chapter takes aircraft leasing insurance as the theme,involving the knowledge of insurance industry and aviation industry,which is highly comprehensive and professional.In addition,this chapter also contains many insurance regulations,which have the characteristics of both the contract text and the legal text,and it is a typical informative text.According to Reiss’Text Typology Theory,when translating informative texts,the translator should pay attention to conveying the information of the source text objectively and accurately,and focus on the logical relationship of semantics.In the report,the translator selects typical examples to carry on in-depth analysis from the perspectives of lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.At lexical level,it is mainly analyzed from two aspects:technical terms and archaic words.At syntactic level,the postposition of attributive clauses,adjustment of the position of complex sentences and the position of adverbial clauses are the starting points.At textual level,cohesion and coherence are the main contents.This translation practice report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is an introduction to the translation task,including its background and significance as well as the introduction to the source text.The second chapter is the description to the whole translation process,including preparations before translation,difficulties in translation and proofreading.The third chapter is case study,which demonstrates the feasibility of the Text Typology Theory in guiding the translation of informative texts from three levels.The fourth chapter is a summary,sharing the major findings and the shortcomings found through this translation practice.
